The new SGB building displayed a long, symmetrical façade with a main entrance at 20, rue Royale. Following the respective mergers of the SGB into Suez-Lyonnaise and of the Générale de Banque into Fortis Group in 1999, the building was taken over by Fortis and used as its Belgian headquarters, then after 2008 by BNP Paribas Fortis.
