The Pine Bluff Street Historic District encompasses a well-preserved residential area of Malvern, Arkansas, that was developed between about 1890 and 1940.It extends along Pine Bluff Street, just east of the city center, between Gloster Court and McNeal Street.
Named after Malvern Hill, Virginia, [5] Malvern was founded in 1870 by the Cairo and Fulton Railroad as a city site 21 miles (34 km) southeast of Hot Springs. On October 15, 1878, Malvern officially became the county seat of Hot Spring County. The original inhabitants of the county were Native Americans, trappers, hunters, and farmers.
The 10-acre (4.0 ha) district extends along three blocks of South Main Street, between 2nd and 5th Streets. This area was mostly developed after fires devastated the city's downtown in 1896 and 1897, and before 1925, and includes Malvern City Hall.
