War Memorial Stadium dedication game vs Texas A&M, 1924. In 1923, former UT athletics director L. Theo Bellmont (in whose honor the west side of the stadium is named), along with 30 student leaders, presented the idea to the board of regents of building a concrete stadium to replace the wooden bleachers of Clark Field.
In 1996, plans were made to construct the stadium in response to the need to expand Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium and convert it to a football-specific facility, the desire to move track and field events to a venue that was more fan and athlete friendly, and the need to construct an appropriate on-campus facility to house the varsity soccer program begun in 1994.
Moody Center is a multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin (UT) in Austin, Texas. The arena, which replaced the Frank Erwin Center, stands on a former parking lot located immediately south of UT's soccer/track and field venue, Mike A. Myers Stadium. Moore-Hill dormitory was once two separate living halls, Hill Hall and Moore Hall. Hill Hall was named for Dr. Homer Barksdale Hill of Austin who volunteered to treat the UT Football team from the very first game in 1893 until his death on July 18, 1923. Dr. Hill received his MD from Tulane University and moved to Austin in 1889.
