BMC was founded in 1987 as a building materials distributor. BMC distributes building materials, manufactures building components, and provides construction services across the U.S. [3] Ready-Frame was launched in 2006, and was known as the Optimized Wall Division. After the bankruptcy, it was renamed to Ready-Frame in 2013.
A second Levy's was later added at El Con Mall, Tucson's oldest shopping mall, in 1960. [1] [2] [3] This store was followed by one in Foothills Mall in 1983. The J. C. Penney–Chicago Store Building = was built in 1903 and is located in 130 E. Congress St.. J.C. Penney, was the building's longest single tenant, occupying the building from 1927 to 1957. The El Paso-based department store occupied the building until 1967 when it closed. The Chicago Store moved in after the El Paso store closed.
It would remain Tucson's tallest building until 1977 when the Arizona Bank Plaza was built. In 1987, the building was purchased for $10.5 million (equivalent to $28 million in 2023) by Pima County, and renamed the Pima County Legal Services Building.
