These services initially only called at Leeds, Seacroft and York, with route X40 running fast to Whitby, and route X43 to Scarborough and Bridlington. Arriva Yorkshire also formerly ran buses in Arriva Max branding, featuring similar premium features to Sapphire-branded buses. Services were also marketed as "Grand Yorkshire Connections", emphasising the larger network of branded routes.
