An espresso tamper, grinder, and knockbox. A knockbox (informally known as a "bash bin", "coffee column", "slam piece" or "bang bang") is a device used to store spent espresso grounds, called a puck, after a shot of espresso has been pulled.
On 14 April 2015, the flight model of ISSpresso was sent to the International Space Station on SpaceX CRS-6 [3] and on 3 May 2015, Samantha Cristoforetti drank the first espresso in micro-gravity conditions. The founder, Giovanni Achille Gaggia (1895–1961), applied for a patent (patent number 365726) for the first modern steamless coffee machine on 5 September 1938, to be used commercially in his coffee bar. The machine forced water to flow over the coffee grounds at a high pressure, producing the 'crema' that is unique to espresso.
