Spruce Run Recreation Area is a 1,290-acre (5.2 km 2) New Jersey state recreation area located in Union Township and Clinton Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. It encompasses the Spruce Run Reservoir that is used as a backup reservoir to protect the state from prolonged droughts.
The new owners further expanded the resort, opening Nubs South in 1979, and started work designing the Nub's Nob snowmaking gun which was patented in 1985. By 1981 there were 21 trails and five chairlifts at the area. The resort began clearing glades and opening them up to skiing, beginning with the Southern Comfort Glade which opened in 1995.
Spruce Run is a tributary of the Raritan River in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It starts from the southwestern slope of Schooley's Mountain, northeast of Anthony in Lebanon Township, and flows southwest toward Glen Gardner. [2] It then flows south toward Clinton, where it joins the South Branch Raritan River.
A rain gauge at Spruce Run recorded 0.86 inches of rain in September when the normal is 4.97 inches. In October so far, only 0.01 inches of rain has fallen. The October average is 4.38 inches.
The Aspen run received a T-bar for the 1962–1963 season. An additional 400 acres (1.6 km 2) of land was purchased in the late 1960s and the first chairlift installed on the Spruce run for the 1969–1970 season. A similar two person chairlift was installed on the Big Mother run for the 1976–1977 season.

The Buffalo Ridge Trail is a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) trail on Traverse City's west side, in Garfield Township. Completed in 2012, the trail connects the former Traverse City State Hospital and Mall Trail to infrastructure along Silver Lake Road, including a Meijer store, a YMCA, and Traverse City West Middle School.
