Queensland General highways map of Queensland. Queensland, being the second largest (by area) state in Australia, is also the most decentralised. Hence the highways and roads cover most parts of the state unlike the sparsely populated Western Australia. Even Queensland's outback is well served as it is relatively populated.
Provincial highways in Ontario include all roads maintained by the Ministry of Transportation as part of Ontario's provincial highway network. King's Highway
The DPHO assigned internal highway numbers to roads in the system, and in 1925, the numbers were signposted along the roads and marked on maps. In 1930, provincial highways were renamed King's Highways and the familiar crown route markers created. The DPHO was also renamed the Department of Highways (DHO).
The following is a list of freeways in Ontario as defined by the Official Road Map of Ontario published by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] The MTO defines a freeway as a divided highway with at least two lanes in each direction.
There are many classes of roads in Ontario, Canada, including provincial highways (which is further broken down into the King's Highways, the 400-series, Secondary Highways, Tertiary Highways, and the 7000-series), county (or regional) roads, and local municipal routes.
Queensland is in the process of converting to an alphanumeric route numbering system, with a letter denoting the importance and standard of the route. The previous shield-based system consisted of various route types – national highways, national routes, and state routes – with each type depicted by a different route marker design.
The highway is named in honour of the explorer and botanist Allan Cunningham who followed a route close to where the modern-day highway runs. In 1828 after discovering the route Cunningham sent a report to Governor Ralph Darling emphasising the economic benefits that a link between the coast and pastoral lands of the Darling Downs would provide. [8]
The highway is surrounded by forest to either side for most of its length, and the only settlement near it is the village of Queenston. [5] As Highway 405 entirely lies within the Province of Ontario and is not subject to federal administration, its entire length is patrolled by the OPP. [6]
