Hickory is home to the second oldest art museum in North Carolina. Hickory Museum of Art was established in 1944 by Founding Director, Paul Whitener. The museum is housed at the SALT Block , overseen by the SALT Block Foundation, along with the Catawba Science Center, Hickory Choral Society, United Arts Council and Western Piedmont Symphony.
L.P. Frans Stadium is located across from Hickory Regional Airport approximately three miles (4.8 km) from I-40 in Winkler Park. It was built on land donated by Elmer Winkler in 1993 and named after the local Pepsi-Cola bottler who partially funded the stadium's construction.
Dr. Glenn R. Frye House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1937, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style stone dwelling. It has a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-story frame wing. Also on the property are the contributing garage (1937); wrought-iron balustrade, fence, and gates (1937); and stone wall (1937). [2]
Weidner Rock House is a historic home located near Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1751, and is a two-story, three-bay, stone dwelling, with a one-story frame wing. The house was moved to its present location and reconstructed in 1844. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. [1]
Round Rock and Williamson County have been the site of human habitation since at least 9,200 BCE. The area's earliest known inhabitants lived during the late Pleistocene (Ice Age), and are linked to the Clovis culture around 9,200 BCE based on evidence found at the much-studied Gault Site, midway between Georgetown and Fort Cavazos. The Hickory region is served by Interstate 40 which passes through the center of Catawba and Burke counties. Other important US highways in the region include: US 70 (east to Morehead City, west to Asheville), and US 321 (through Catawba and Caldwell Counties). Primary state routes include NC 10, NC 16, NC 18, NC 90, NC 127, and NC 150.

Propst House is a historic home located in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Built in 1881, and is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2 –story, Second Empire style frame dwelling. It has a mansard roof , a square mansard tower, and interesting wooden ornament.
