Chakraborty (spelling variations include Chakraborti, Chakrabarti, Chakrabarty and Chakravarty) is a surname of Bengali Hindus and Assamese Hindus of India and Bangladesh, which literally means 'wheels rolling'; metaphorically it denotes a ruler whose chariot wheels roll everywhere without obstruction (čakra 'wheel' + vart-'to roll'). Biharilal Chakraborty (Bengali: বিহারীলাল চক্রবর্তী) was a Bengali poet and music composer. He is often considered as the pioneer of musical poetry in Bengali literature. Rabindranath Tagore was influenced by the works of Biharilal Chakraborty and named him "Morning Bird" of Bengali literature. [1] [2]
