The Tribune Eagle is also one of several newspapers serving the Front Range Urban Corridor. The paper is a consolidation of the former Wyoming State Tribune (founded 1894, with heritage dating to 1867) and Wyoming Eagle (converted to a daily in 1926). The McCraken family bought the Eagle in 1926 and the Tribune in 1937.

In 1870, The Vidette was the first newspaper established in Wichita by Fred A. Sowers and W. B. Hutchinson. [3] It operated briefly. [4] [5]On April 12, 1872, The Wichita Eagle was founded and edited by Marshall M. Murdock, [6] [7] and it became a daily paper in May 1884. [4]
