The Moors murders were a series of child killings committed by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in and around Manchester, England, between July 1963 and October 1965.The victims were five children—Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans—aged between 10 and 17, at least four of whom were sexually assaulted.
The epilogue also reveals that in 1986 Brady and Hindley confessed to the murders of Pauline Reade and Keith Bennett. They were taken to Saddleworth Moor separately to help locate the bodies. Reade's body was found and buried in a proper grave, but Bennett's body was not. The drama ends with a tribute to the young victims.
Four of the victims' gravesites were eventually discovered, with the only exception being Bennett's, whose body still has not been found. The body of one of his victims, 12-year-old Keith Bennett, remains undiscovered on the Moor, despite Brady's and Hindley's own heavily guarded efforts to locate the remains themselves after they admitted two further murders in 1986; they both did, however, guide police to the buried body of 16-year-old Pauline Reade in 1987.
They also admitted murdering Keith Bennett and burying his body on the moors in June 1964. [9] On 30 September 2022 Greater Manchester Police searched for the body of Bennett after receiving information from amateur investigator and author Russell Edwards. [10]
