ECPI University was founded in Norfolk, Virginia, by Alfred Dreyfus [3] in 1966 as Electronic Computer Programming Institute. Initially formed as an institution offering accelerated education in computer science and programming, ECPI University later expanded its offerings to include electronics engineering technology, health sciences, nursing, and culinary arts.
In 1999, TESST acquired RETS Technical Training Center, which had been offering classes in Maryland since 1956. In June 2001, TESST Technology Institute received approval to offer Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in network information systems and electronics, computer, and telecommunications technology.
Capitol Technology University was founded in 1927 as the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute, a correspondence school, by Eugene H. Rietzke, a United States Navy veteran Radioman (Master Chief). Five years later, in 1932, a residence division was opened, allowing students to reside at the school and study in laboratories.
