The Eastern States Hockey League (ESHL) was an American Tier III Junior ice hockey league. It stated goal is that it develops high school age players to hockey skills needed for higher levels of Junior, college hockey, and professional hockey.
The Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) was a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III junior ice hockey league. Founded in 1993 by Dan Esdale, [1] [2] the EJHL had fourteen teams from across the Northeastern United States.
In 2015, the EHL added a lower level of Tier III junior hockey for player development called the EHL-Elite Division and all the current EHL members, including the Little Flyers, were added to the EHL-Premier Division. In 2017, the league re-branded again, dropping the Premier name from their top division and renamed the Elite Division to Premier.
In October 2016, the USPHL announced it had applied to USA Hockey for approval to start a Tier II junior league for the 2017–18 season. The proposed Tier II USPHL division was announced to consist of 11 teams, seven from organizations in the USPHL Premier, the newly added Rochester Monarchs, and the Boston Bandits, New Jersey Rockets, and Northern Cyclones from the Eastern Hockey League.
