Haulover Park is a 177-acre (72 ha) urban park owned and operated by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Department, located in metropolitan Miami, just north of Bal Harbour, Florida. The park is located on a shoal between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay , just north of the Broad Causeway (SR 922) and Collins Avenue .
The park is more than 800 acres (320 ha) in size, and has 2 miles (3.2 km) of beach on the Atlantic Ocean side. Crandon Boulevard extends from the end of the Rickenbacker Causeway through the length of the park, providing access to the Village of Key Biscayne and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.

This region of Tampa was first settled by Col. Harry Culbreath and his family who migrated from South Carolina during the 1860s.

Prior to 1971, Stump Pass Beach State Park was known as Port Charlotte Beach State Recreation Area. On May 10, 1970 the park was transferred to the state of Florida from Charlotte county. The park opened to the public in 1971 with no services. Picnic pavilions, a boardwalk, outdoor showers, and restrooms were added to the park in 2000. [3]

After European settlement of Florida, the property had a number of owners and was used for various agricultural purposes.
