On April 12, 2006, three second-generation full-size Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer vehicles completed a 32-day overland expedition from Moscow to Chukotka. This was a 28,000-mile (45,000 km) trip across North Asia and the Arctic Tundra.

In 1983, Eddie Bauer began a cross-branding partnership with Ford Motor Company to produce Eddie Bauer Edition Ford vehicles. In 1984, the first Eddie Bauer Edition Ford debuted: the limited edition "Eddie Bauer Bronco." [15] The partnership ended in 2010, with the 2010 Explorer and Expedition the last two models available in Eddie Bauer edition.
A 4.2-liter OHV V6, based on Ford's 3.8-liter Essex V6, replaced the 4.9-liter inline-six, while the 4.6- and 5.4-liter SOHC V8s replaced the 5.0- and 5.8-liter OHV V8s. The new V8s were marketed under the "Triton" name and mark the first use of Ford's Modular single overhead cam (SOHC) engines in the F-Series pickups.
For 1995, Ford replaced the 3-door Eddie Bauer with the Expedition trim; in anticipation of the full-size Ford Expedition SUV, the trim line was withdrawn for the 1996 model year. For 1999, all three-door Explorers became Explorer Sports; the model was produced alongside the third-generation Explorer through the 2003 model year.
