The Chicago Sister Cities International Cup (CSCIC) was a friendly soccer tournament hosted by the Chicago Fire in May 2010. Sister Cities International (SCI) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the goal of facilitating partnerships between communities within the United States and other countries by establishing sister cities. [2] Sister cities are agreements of mutual support formally recognized by the civic leaders of those cities. [3]
In 1960, Chicago formed its first Sister Cities agreement with Warsaw, Poland, and launched the Chicago Sister Cities International Program. [33] In the 1970s and 1980s, the program added seven additional Sister Cities, and in 1990, Mayor Richard M. Daley officially established a volunteer board of directors for the organization. [ 34 ]
