The first Oktoberfest in La Crosse was held October 13–15, 1961 in a location between the post office and Mary E. Sawyer auditorium. A carnival area was also set up in the First Federal Savings & Loan parking lot at 6th & State St. Among the festivities were farm fair events including cow chip throwing and greased pig contests.
The band formed in 1992 and in 1994 released two singles on the seminal British label Sarah Records; they were one of the only American acts on Sarah. Aberdeen also released recordings through Sunday Records and guitarist and co-founder's own label The Tremolo Arm Users Club. They disbanded shortly after Sarah Records folded.

In 1988, the band joined forces with Oi Polloi to release a split album. [5] Toxik's side (titled Mad as Fuck) started with their punk rock take of "Wild Side of Life". In 1989, they released another split record, this time with Welsh punk band Shrapnel. A full-length release followed in 1991, funded by 1-up Records from Aberdeen.
