  2. Air Compressor Help - General Discussion - Car Talk Community

    community.cartalk.com/t/air-compressor-help

Hi all. So, I am looking for some type or air compressor to use to inflate car tires. I don’t need anything super great, but I don’t want one of those junky 12 volt ones. I would like to use this to top off tires throughout the year. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I would like something decent. What do you all use/recommend? If it’s a 12volt, I’d like some hands-on experience ...

  3. Air compressor blows fuses - Car Talk Community

General Discussion. GatorRay December 7, 2013, 7:37pm 1. I have a 15 amp air compressor that does a terrific job keeping my air pressures to recommended levels however it frequently blows fuses in both my 2010 Highlander and my 2006 LS 430 Lexus. It appears that a direct connection to the battery is the only recourse.

  4. Getting Air Into Tires In Extreme Cold - Car Talk Community

The main downside was that the compressor was somewhat expensive & took up some valuable floor space. Compressors whose main purpose is for topping off automobile tires aren’t as big and aren’t overly expensive. It takes quite a bit of energy to pump air to 40 psi, so I’d recommend a 120volt powered compressor, not a battery powered one.

    community.cartalk.com/t/emergency-air-compressor-blew-cig-lighter-fuse

Trying to stay on top of my maintenance, I was topping off the air pressure for the spare tires in my 2 vehicles. I only have access to those tiny, cheap compressors (2) they put in emergency roadside kits. The cigarette lighter in vehicle A (Equinox) was not working, and being that it had been left uncovered, I think some food crumbs and possibly rust killed it. Not sure. Cig lighter in ...

I don’t know how the tires could hold air with damage like that. Tester May 27, 2013, 6:41am 2. The tire bead is just barely still sealed. Tester. pleasedodgevan2 May 27, 2013, 8:45am 3. Looks like maybe an inner tube was used. The angle on the valve looks a bit odd. 98caddy May 27, 2013, 8:53am 4. It looks like if they hit any type of ...

Most consumer tanks though are more around 100# with a burst pressure somewhere over 200. B.L.E June 19, 2017, 1:19am 7. 200 psi @ 70 degrees F will rise to 228.4 psi if heated to 140 degrees F. I don’t think your tank is in danger of exploding, nor is the spare tire for that matter. Whitey June 19, 2017, 2:17pm 8.

Solutions: 1- Store vehicle in a warmer location if this is an option. 2- inflate with nitrogen. 3-warm up tires enough to what is frozen, then inflate as much as possible to avoid shaping while parked in cold. (because tires lose pressure in the cold weather.) shadowfax January 4, 2019, 2:39pm 20.

  10. Tires PSI - Is it by car or by tire? - Car Talk Community

    community.cartalk.com/t/tires-psi-is-it-by-car-or-by-tire

UncleTurbo September 26, 2013, 5:36pm 3. the PSI is by the car. The PSI on the tire is the max PSI you can put into the tire safely. The tire can go on many different cars so the tire PSI isn’t car specific. The PSI given on the door sticker, and owner’s manual is specific for the car and that’s what you go by.

  11. Tire Pressure: On the lift=on the ground? - Car Talk Community

    community.cartalk.com/t/tire-pressure-on-the-lift-on-the-ground

Tire pressure is PSI, pounds per square inch. When you set the car down, the amount of rubber in the tire (square inches) does not change, and the rim does not change. And the amount of air in the tire does not change. So the pressure is the same. The shape of the tire is a bit different though, there is a flat spot where it sits on the ground ...
