Summit County is an urban county located in the northeast region of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 540,428, [3] making it the fourth-most populous county in Ohio. Its county seat and largest city is Akron. [4] The county was formed on March 3, 1840, from portions of Medina, Portage and Stark counties.
The all-time record high temperature in Akron of 104 °F (40 °C) was established on August 6, 1918, and the all-time record low temperature of −25 °F (−32 °C) was set on January 19, 1994. [51] The most precipitation to fall on one calendar day was on July 7, 1943, when 5.96" of rain was measured. [51]
