A tour of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace provides an exciting look into the history of our remarkable founder and her home, as well as a glimpse into a movement that is still building girls into strong women of courage, confidence, and character over 100 years later.
The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is an urban site consisting of several buildings on two lots in the middle of downtown Savannah, Georgia. The house and outbuilding directly behind were completed by 1821. By 1953, the house was in disrepair, having been divided into apartments in the 1940s.

The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is perhaps the only “house museum” in the nation created specifically for girls to enjoy—though it is loved by everyone! At this unique house museum, owned and operated by Girl Scouts of the USA, visitors can trace the arc of Juliette Gordon Low’s life and the Girl Scout Movement she founded.
In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low (1860–1927) founded Girl Scouts of the USA, an organization that today serves millions of girl members and alumnae. A true believer in the potential of all girls to have courage, confidence, character, Juliette Low is credited with establishing and nurturing a global movement that has changed the world.
About Juliette Gordon Low. In 1912, Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low gathered girls from her cousin Nina Pape’s school in her hometown to share exciting plans for a new outdoors and educational club for girls.
