The article now states "Except for CT, the second letter of the postal abbreviation is found in the GPO abbreviation for the state." According to the GPO web site, the GPO abbreviation for Connecticut is CT, same as the USPS abbreviation. In fact, all GPO state abbreviations are the same as the USPS ones.
To use an example from another talk section -- Kent. is an abbreviation for Kentucky and Kent is the name of the county or city of Kent. If the abbreviation is used properly with a period it would not be confusing and obvious that Kent. means Kentucky. The article should be split and have one for state codes and one for abbreviations.
Open this Help:Tables and locations section for editing via the visual editor (VE). Delete the D.C. row, but do not save the changes. Copy the remaining full state names. You can usually paste them directly into the spreadsheet over the abbreviations. Then alphabetize the full names in the spreadsheet.
