William McChord Hurt [1] [2] (March 20, 1950 – March 13, 2022) was an American actor. He is widely known for his performances on stage and screen, he received various awards including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor, in addition to nominations for five Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards.
Peter James Yates was born on 24 July 1929 [1] in Aldershot, Hampshire, [2] the son of an army officer. [3]He attended Charterhouse School.After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he worked for some years as an actor, director, and stage manager.
In 1981, she starred alongside William Hurt in the neo-noir Eyewitness. Her next role was opposite Mel Gibson in the Peter Weir–directed The Year of Living Dangerously (1982).
