The Northwest Territories contains the Mackenzie dike swarm, which is the largest dike swarm known on Earth. [2] Around 1,269-1,267 million years ago, the Slave craton was partly uplifted and intruded by the giant Mackenzie dyke swarm, radiating from a mantle plume center west of Victoria Island .
