Kino's Storytime, also known as Storytime, is an American children's reading television program which aired on PBS from October 12, 1992 until September 1, 1997. [1] It was produced by KCET in Los Angeles, California. It was available on VHS from Strand Home Video and Video Treasures.
During this season, several changes were made in an attempt to freshen up the series; including a change in the logo, cutting the number of songs featured from seasons 1–8 from five down to four (and in two episodes, just three), and an updated, more rock-based closing theme.
The show revolves around a group of children and teenagers who performed in their own rock group called Kids Incorporated. They struggled to deal with issues ranging from crushes to peer pressure to child abuse, while performing regularly at a local former music club called The P*lace, which was really called The Palace, but the first "a" in the sign burned out and was never replaced.
In 1997, the Kidsongs Kids and the Biggles sang "Button Up Your Overcoat" as part of the Kidsongs: I Can Do It! VHS/DVD. Helen Kane's 1929 cover of the song appears anachronistically in the 2013 video game BioShock Infinite , set in 1912, and can be heard in the Downtown Emporia level.
