The Trujillo Homesteads are a historic ranch site near Mosca, Alamosa County, Colorado, not far from the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The area was first settled in the 1860s by Teofilo Trujillo, a Mexican sheep farmer. His son Pedro built a log cabin house beginning in 1879, along with other ranch outbuildings and structures.

The Green Mountain Ranch, located southwest on Deckers Road (Highway 126) from Buffalo Creek, Colorado, was built around 1900 by Edwin Eugene Culver. There are only two remaining buildings, as the rest were torn down in the construction of Highway 126. The property was homesteaded in 1900 by Culver, who built a house, corrals, and outbuildings.
In 1916 Colorado enacted prohibition, leading Holzwarth to try homesteading at Grand River. The opening of the Fall River Road over the mountains to Estes Park in 1920 created an opportunity for Holzwarth to take in guests. The operation was taken over by John Holzwarth Jr., who ran it until 1973 when The Nature Conservancy bought the property. [2]
