David James Bellamy OBE (18 January 1933 – 11 December 2019) [1] was an English academic, botanist, television presenter, author and prominent environmental campaigner in the UK and globally. His distinctive, energetic style of presenting became well known to UK television audiences in the 1970s and 1980s.
Bellamy was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. [29] His half-brother is professional boxer Ron Bellamy. [1] Bellamy died on November 2, 2013, at the age of 74. [30] He was survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Hollie Ragland Bellamy, son Derrin Bellamy, and two grandsons. He was buried at Atlanta's South-View Cemetery. [31]
