Before the release of their second album Sobrenatural (2007), Alexis y Fido appeared in the reggaetón-centered drama, Feel the Noise, produced by Jennifer Lopez and starring R&B singer Omarion, Melonie Diaz and Rosa Arredondo. The album spawned two singles, "5 Letras" and "Soy Igual Que Tú", both of which topped the Latin Rhythm chart.

Guest appearances in the album include Bad Bunny, Pharrell Williams, Alexis & Fido, Feid, Romeo Santos, Laura Pausini and Latin Mafia, among others. Recording for the album took place at Electric Garden in Brooklyn , 5020 Studio in Miami and Sensei Sound in Carolina, Puerto Rico , with the entire album being executively produced by Alejandro.

La Esencia is the sixth studio album by the Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Alexis & Fido released on March 4, 2014 through Wild Dogz and Warner Music Latina. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2014, the album received a nomination for Best Music Urban Album. [1] La Esencia received a nomination for a Lo Nuestro Award for Urban Album of the Year. [2]
