The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is a public research university in San Antonio, Texas, United States.Established in 1969, [10] UTSA is the largest university in San Antonio and the eighth-largest by enrollment in the state of Texas enrolling over 35,000 students across its five campuses spanning more than 758 acres.
According to the master plan of UTSA, the university is expecting to receive another large engineering building, and new research facilities located on the east side of the campus by the year 2030. Special housing options would also be available for students doing research for the university.

The Texas Legislature authorized $40 million in tuition revenue bonds for this new campus in 2006 under HB 153, contingent on full-time enrollment reaching 1,500 by January 1, 2010.
