Picked up a set of restored Lakewood Traction Action bars with new J-bolt hardware a few years ago, and considering installing them this summer. It's been a while since I installed any bars since I installed slapper bars many years ago.

After bolting them on I am having second thoughts about the lakewood bars. The directions are lacking to say the least and the kit didnt even come ...

I had the old Lakewood Ladder bars on my '71 chevelle back in the early 80's Stopped the wheel hop for sure, but also created a spiral crack on the fram around the right rear axle. And that was only a 500 HP 355" SBC with a Muncie and 3.73 gears.
Most of the time if you box the lower control arms, slapper bars arent needed on a A body. Getting the lower control arm parallel to the asphalt and using poly body bushings and rubber bushings in the rear suspension should stop wheel hop. Im not sure where the discussion is currently on rubber vs poly in the rear suspension a A body.

I was there. Traction Masters are even "older" school, invented in the 50's, and were factory on the 66 Shelby. And they work.
NOT doing a 1,000 Barrett/Jackson, more of a nice, clean looking Day 2 or Day 3 street machine from the '70s. Will not be a hard run streeter, just a nice cruiser but kinda like the idea for "the look". Never having run traction bars on a Chevelle before any one with some real world info for mounting them or not mounting them.
1967 RS Bench seat 327/2bbl/PG. Gary, I suggested marking the top of the spring after bars are installed as this action will give you a reference point of axle location on the spring. The marks are another tool, so to speak. I also removed/replaced the OE rubber spacers with alum plate as thick as the snuffers because of reaction now of torque ...

Excellent condition and all hardware included. $135. These Lakewood traction action lift bars are manufactured from powder-coated steel for 1964-1972 GM A-Body. Lakewood Traction Action lift bars work with axle torque to lift and load the chassis. This forces the wheels downward planting the tires, transferring power to the pavement and ...
