Kungsleden (King's Trail) is a hiking trail in northern Sweden, approximately 467 kilometres (290 mi) long, between Abisko in the north and Hemavan in the south. [1] The full distance breaks down into 419.3 km of trekking, 18.2 km of lake crossings and a 29.5 km stretch of road, almost all of which hikers cover by bus.
Nowadays, the reserve has an extensive trail system, totaling about 600 km. [S 10] The best known trail is the Kungsleden trail, but Drottningleden trail (south of Hemavan) and Vindelvaggileden trail (along the Vindel River valley) are also well known. [S 10] The trails are made of planks in the wetland area and numerous bridges.
The 440 km (270 mi) long Kungsleden hiking trail, which follows the Scandinavian mountain range, starts (or ends) at the Abisko Turiststation (consisting of a railway station of the same name and the Abisko Youth Hostel) (approx. 4 km (2.5 mi) west of the village itself) and follows through the national park.
Skierfe is known for the spectacular point of view one can get from the top in good weather. The path to the top is generally an easy hike and Skierfe is therefore a popular detour for people wandering along the Kungsleden trail. It is about 800 m (2,600 ft) above the Aktse mountain hut.

Pieljekaise is a Swedish national park. It lies about 10 km (6.2 mi) south of Jäkkvik in Arjeplog Municipality, Lappland. The park consists largely of birch woods. The park is traversed by the Kungsleden hiking trail and the trail continues into the nearby the Vindelfjällens Nature Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Europe.
The Nordkalottruta uses trails of the park as part of its longer passage. The Abisko Turiststation , run by the Svenska Turistföreningen (STF), houses many visitors to the park and provides lodging, food, and other amenities, and is one of many similar facilities located periodically along the Kungsleden trail.
