The University of Maryland, Baltimore County [6] (UMBC) is a public research university in Catonsville, Maryland named after Baltimore County.It had a fall 2022 enrollment of 13,991 students, [7] 61 undergraduate majors, over 92 graduate programs (38 master, 25 doctoral, and 29 graduate certificate programs) and the first university research park in Maryland. The 2024–25 UMBC Retrievers men's basketball team represents the University of Maryland, Baltimore County during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.The Retrievers, led by fourth-year head coach Jim Ferry, play their home games at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Catonsville, Maryland as members of the America East Conference.
It is the home of the UMBC Retrievers men's and women's basketball teams as well as the volleyball team and serves as a replacement to the Retriever Activities Center (RAC). It has a capacity of 5,000 seats, approximately 1,000 more than the RAC, and is the campus venue for all commencements and concerts. [2]
