Fishermen's Terminal is a dock opened in 1914 and operated by the Port of Seattle as the home port for Seattle's commercial fishing fleet, and, since 2002, non-commercial pleasure craft. The Terminal is on Salmon Bay in the Interbay neighborhood, east of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and immediately west of the Ballard Bridge .

The Port of Seattle came into existence on September 5, 1911, by a vote of the people of the Port District. One of the biggest factors that swayed the votes in favor of creating the port was the prospect of economic growth. [1] However, port construction did not begin until 1913 with the creation of a home port for the local fishermen.
The airport is the busiest in the Pacific Northwest region of North America and is owned by the Port of Seattle. The entire airport covers an area of 2,500 acres (1,000 hectares) and has three parallel runways. [1] [4] It is the primary hub for Alaska Airlines, whose headquarters are near the airport. [5]
The average travel time for the two loops was 3.3 minutes, and 1.8 minutes on the shuttle, and each vehicle was estimated to amass 47,000 miles (76,000 km) annually. [9] In 1999, the Port of Seattle authorized $142 million to completely overhaul the entire SEA Underground system. [10]
