The Ba'athist Syrian flag is described in Article 6 of the Constitution of Syria. The first paragraph of the Article states: The flag of the Syrian Arab Republic consists of four colours: red, white and black, with two green stars, of five angles each. Article 4 (p. 1113) describes the flag: "The Syrian flag shall be composed as follows, the length shall be double the height. It shall contain three bands of equal dimensions, the upper band being green, the middle band white, and the lower band black.
