Waipā District Council (Māori: Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Waipa) [citation needed] is the territorial authority for the Waipā District of New Zealand. [ 1 ] The council consists of 14 elected members: the mayor of Waipā , Susan O'Regan , and 13 ward councillors.
The District was formed from Waipa County Council and its town boroughs in 1989. [5] The county boundaries have varied since five ridings were formed in Waipa county in 1876: Newcastle, Hamilton, Mangapiko North and South, [6] Rangiaowhia, [7] and Pukekura. [8] In 1902, it covered 282 sq mi (730 km 2) and had an additional riding, Tuhikaramea. [9]
Pirongia is a small town in the Waipa District of the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island.It is 12 kilometres to the west of Te Awamutu, on the banks of the Waipā River, close to the foot of the 962 metre Mount Pirongia, which lies in Pirongia Forest Park to the west of the town.

A line of Dun Mountain–Maitai terrane rocks are assumed to pass north–south along the Waipa Fault, [1] through the centre of the Waikato-King Country region, separating the Murihiku terrane and Waipapa composite terrane, and produce a detectable junction magnetic anomaly, but only outcrops at one place, at Wairere.
