The Wave is a 1981 young adult novel by Todd Strasser under the pen name Morton Rhue (though it has been reprinted under Todd Strasser's real name). It is a novelization of a teleplay by Johnny Dawkins for the movie The Wave, a fictionalized account of the "Third Wave" teaching experiment by Ron Jones that took place in an Ellwood P. Cubberley High School history class in Palo Alto, California.
It was an "Amazon Best Book of the Month (March 2013)". [18] [19] Donna Seaman from Booklist called the story "indelible and unique". [18] [20] The Christian Science Monitor ranked it number 14 in "15 best nonfiction books of 2013". Ron Jones (born 1941) is an American writer and formerly a teacher in Palo Alto, California.He is best known for his classroom exercise called "The Third Wave" and the book he wrote about the event, which inspired the made-for-TV movie The Wave and other works, including a theatrical film in 2008.
