Douglas County Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer organization in Douglas County within Douglas County Sheriff's Office. [1] With approximately sixty active members year-round, Douglas County's Search and Rescue (Douglas SAR) responds to searches for missing children and adults, evidence [2] and other search requests in the county and on mutual aid calls anywhere in the state of Colorado.
They were one of the 20 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force teams deployed to the World Trade Center site after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Rampart Search and Rescue, Inc. has been organized for the purpose of providing traditional search and rescue resources along with urban search and rescue (USAR) for the county. Rampart search and rescue works under the supervision of the Adam's County Sheriff's Department in Colorado. They have 40 adult members and 12 cadets.
