The vermilion tanager (Calochaetes coccineus) is a species of Neotropical bird in the tanager family Thraupidae. It is the only member of the genus Calochaetes. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
