El Rancho High School football team during the 1960s established themselves as one of the most respected high school football programs in California. Known as the "John Wooden of (American) high school coaches" [10] and often called the Dean of high school coaches, [11] he is the second-winningest high school football coach in California history [12] [13] with a record of 360–134–4, behind Bob Ladouceur of De La Salle High School in Concord, California with 399 wins.
