The 25th Infantry Division (nicknamed "Tropic Lightning") [1] is a United States Army division based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. The division, which was activated on 1 October 1941 in Hawaii, conducts military operations primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.
Throughout the 160 days of sustained combat in the Philippines, the 90th FA BN fired over 42,000 rounds in support of the 25th Infantry Division. After the end of hostilities between the Empire of Japan and the United States, 25th DIVARTY joined the remainder of the division on Japan during the post-war occupation.
The 25th Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Army activated in 1866 and deactivated in 1957. One of the "Buffalo Soldier" units, the racially segregated regiment saw action during the American Indian Wars, Spanish–American War, Philippine–American War and World War II.
