Turcotte was born in Gary, Indiana, and raised in Holt, Michigan. As a youth, he played in the 1978 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Detroit. [1] Turcotte was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. [2]
