Images, audio and video files must be uploaded into Wikipedia using the "Upload file" link on the left-hand navigation bar. Only logged in users can upload files. Once a file is uploaded, other pages can include or link to the file. Uploaded files are given the "File:" prefix by the system, and each one has an image description page.

Click the "upload file" link in the menu to the left. Follow the instructions to upload the file. It's the same procedure as most websites, although we only accept "freely licensed" images. If you're not sure that your file is freely licensed, please only upload it if you took the photo yourself.
Examples include movie posters, corporate logos, and screenshots of web pages. To upload a non-free image, use the File Upload Wizard, which will help you add all of the required information. A link to the wizard can be found under "Tools" at the left of the screen.
The File namespace is a namespace consisting of administration pages in which all of Wikipedia's media content resides. On Wikipedia, all media filenames begin with the prefix File:, including data files for images, video clips, or audio clips, including document length clips; or MIDI files (a small file of computer music instructions).
