The Ministry of Defence Production (Urdu: وزارت دفاعی پيداوار; Trans.: Wazarat-e-Defai Padawar) abbreviated as MoDP, is an executive ministry of the federal Government of Pakistan with objectives of development and production of ordnance and machinery for the Pakistan Armed Forces.

The Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (PMTF) is a Pakistani manufacturer of power and machine tools based in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was established in Karachi in 1968, the facility was built for the local manufacture of machine tools under technical cooperation and technology transfer agreements with Oerlikon-Bührle of Switzerland .
The project culminated in production of a jet trainer co-designed and produced by Pakistan and China in 1994. AMF is involved even today in manufacturing of about 20% of the structure of K-8 at these facilities. This background of AMF was considered good enough to venture into the area of indigenous production of a jet fighter aircraft.
