The Champion Ballroom Academy (founded April 1990) is a dance studio in San Diego, California. Its main specialties are social partner-dancing , competitive ballroom dance (aka. Dancesport ) and the Latin-dance -based aerobic program Core Rhythms.
The two began to compete and eventually became the 1990 and 1991 Austrian National Champions. Despite their success, the constant travel and Murphy's domestic commitments took their toll. Murphy had opened the Champion Ballroom Academy in San Diego in 1990 and found it difficult splitting herself between these two obligations.
Michael and Toni have made numerous appearances on TV and film. Most notable TV credits are as choreographers on FOX So You Think You Can Dance, featured dancers and champions on PBS America's Ballroom Challenge [4] and Championship Ballroom Dancing, and in the feature film Dance with Me.
