In 2009 Smith resurfaced on the Louisiana indy scene wrestling for Old School Wrestling Entertainment based in New Orleans and Mid South Wrestling Entertainment in Houma, Louisiana. Smith also opened his own wrestling company called Mid South Entertainment. He ran only one show booking the likes of Rod Price, One Man Gang, and many local wrestlers.
He was one of the principal founders of high school wrestling in Louisiana. [1] He entered the Congregation of Holy Cross at St. Joseph's Novitiate in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, and took his vows in 1939. Brother Polowy's teams at Holy Cross High School in New Orleans won 22 state championships from 1945 to 1968. [2]
The Mid-South Louisiana Heavyweight Championship was a secondary professional wrestling championship that was used and defended from 1964 though 1983. Initially, the championship originated in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)-affiliated Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling .
