On a more generic level, a 2014 study found no correlation between the characteristics of a given Wikipedia page about an academic and the academic's notability as determined by citation counts. A reliable newspaper quotes a victorious athlete as saying "Today is one of the greatest days in my life". Years later, an obituary in another paper renders the quote as "Today is the greatest day of my life". A contemporaneous source makes a claim that is explicitly called out as wrong by reliable non-contemporaneous sources.
Source reliability falls on a spectrum: No source is 'always reliable' or 'always unreliable' for everything. However, some sources provide stronger or weaker support for a given statement. Editors must use their judgment to draw the line between usable and inappropriate sources for each statement.
