The first master-planned community to be developed in Sugar Land was Sugar Creek, a 1,200-acre (4.9 km 2) community consisting mainly of luxury homes on the city's east side. There are now a total of thirteen master-planned communities located in Sugar Land's city limits and its extraterritorial jurisdiction combined.
The new locations were between 45,000 and 60,000 square feet. In addition, typical features included bumpers cars, go-karts, miniature golf, and miniature bowling.
