The first college to open its doors within the town of Greensboro was the woman's college, "Greensboro Female College". The school occupied a 25-acre (100,000 m 2) campus near the heart of the city within what would become the College Hill Historic District. It was organized in 1833 for local children.

[1] She went on to attend Greensboro College for two years before transferring to Randolph Macon Women's College. [1]
Greensborough College occupies the site formerly known as the Watsonia Technical School. The nearby Watsonia High School and the Watsonia Technical School were merged to form Greensborough Secondary College for the beginning of the 1990 school year, [3] with the high school campus serving as a senior school for years 11 and 12, and the larger technical school used as a junior campus.
