Alessia Zecchini (born 30 June 1992) is an Italian freediver who has set world and Italian records in freediving. [1] [2] At the age of 13, Zecchini completed her first federal apnea course in A.s.d. "Apnea Blu Mare". In 2009 she changed clubs and became an athlete of Dive Free Roma and Nuoto Belle Arti.
The Deepest Breath is a 2023 documentary film directed and written by Laura McGann that profiles Italian freediver Alessia Zecchini on her quest to break a world record with the help of safety diver [clarification needed] Stephen Keenan [1] and her competition against Japanese freediver Hanako Hirose.

Zecchini was attempting to cross the Blue Hole on a single breath, but became disorientated when Keenan was 20 seconds late to arrive at a meeting point. She swam astray but reached the surface after Keenan reached her to resume guiding.
