Lotus Group (also known as Lotus Cars, and trading as Lotus NYO in China [3]) is a British multinational automotive manufacturer of luxury sports cars and electric vehicles. Lotus Group is composed of three primary entities. Lotus Cars, a high-performance sports car company, is based in Hethel, Norfolk.
The company manufactures and sells vehicles under the brands of Geely and Lynk & Co, which are part of the Geely Auto Group business unit, along with its subsidiaries and joint ventures such as Zeekr, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Proton, Smart and Lotus, as well as commercial vehicles under the London EV Company, Radar Auto and Farizon brands.

Proton was the owner of Lotus Cars from 1996 to 2017. In May 2017, DRB-HICOM announced plans to sell a 49.9% stake in Proton and a 51% stake in Lotus to Chinese company Geely. [4] The deal was signed in June 2017, and Lotus has ceased to be a unit of Proton. [citation needed]
